b"PENINSULASUNIQUE FEATN ow we are getting close to State Cup, weand the online version (not mention on social media) recently received the following advice thatthroughout the touch and wider community so if you we thought is worth sharing. It certainly ishave some, let us know!.something very special from last year's 2018 State CupFor such a small club to win 2 state cups last year from that we are unsure if it has ever been achieved before.sending only 5 teams this is a very proud moment for Even going back to the very first State Cup that wasthem, but the family effect in this instance is priceless!played in 1977? Regardless if it has it is still unique!Last year Peninsula had 4 fathers play & win in the Mixed masters division & also our 4 sons play & win in the Mens 20's division. Thats both teams crowned winners at the same tournament. All the father son duos are home grown local Peninsula boys. The other amazing story was one of our lady players their mixed masters team was Jeff & Sandon Smith's nan, Narelle Commons who is 68 years old. The boys from Peninsula convinced her to play as they needed female players to be able to put a side in. This was her first ever State Cup & she played every game & came away a winner. We are not sure that a debutant of that age has ever played & won in their first State Cup - especially playing in same team with her son in law. She is playing again this year at 69 years old. These types are stories are amazing and really portrays one of the beauties of our sport. We love to share more such special stories in our State Cup magazine 8|Keeping In Touch 2019 77195_NSWTA-KeepingInTouchMagazine-2019.indd 8 2/12/19 3:21 pm"
