b'Mayors WELCOME MESSAGEWe are proud to be able to host the 34th staging of the NSW State Cup, one of the premier sporting tournaments on the Port Macquarie-Hastings sporting calendar.Over the past three years, our Council has been on an ambitious target to prioritise investment in our sporting fields and infrastructure, in order to plan for the ongoing growth of recreational sport - such as touch football - in the region. Our Council manages over 21 different sportsfields, and in 2022 we made a significant strategic decision to acquire the Tuffins Lane Sporting Precinct - Port Macquaries home of touch football. As we rely on a strong and prosperous sporting economy to keep our region thriving, it made sense that we should acquire this important asset to provide for year-round community sport, and utilise it for the purposes of bringing sporting events like the State Cup to the region. It is decisions such as this that allow us to strengthen our relationships with key sporting stakeholders such as NSW Touch, and ensure a healthy and sustainable partnership with our tourism operators, such as our visitor accommodation operators and hospitality outlets, who reap the benefits of such as successful weekend.Together, we all look forward to welcoming the players, supporters and organisers back to Port Macquarie as we kick off another State Cup three-day tournament.
